At Pigeon Bay Campground in Northern Michigan we’re at the heart of of the great Inland Waterway at the south end of Mullett Lake, the fourth largest inland lake in Michigan and one of its true jewels of fishing, boating, and having a good time. The channel from the campground leads directly to the lake so you’re a few short minutes from Mullett Lake when you camp at Pigeon Bay Campground.
 
This means most of the Great Up North and many of its communities are accessible by boat from Pigeon Bay. If you love fishing and boating, Mullett Lake is truly one of the finest places on earth during the summer. The bass, walleye, perch, and pike fishing on Mullett Lake make this lake a destination for many avid anglers each year. When you camp at Pigeon Bay, this incredible Northern Michigan fishing resource is at your fingertips, or better yet, a leisurely boat cruise away.

On top of nearly endless boating opportunities, Pigeon Bay Campground is close to Northern Michigan’s wonderful trail system.  
 
The North Central State Trail and North Eastern State Trail are designated for non-motorized vehicles only. These trails are groomed for hikers, joggers, and bikers. Both trails are 10 feet wide, maintain a crushed limestone base, feature scenic views through the woods, and wind around lakes and rivers. The North Central State Trail is 62 miles long and runs from Gaylord to Mackinaw City, connecting with Indian River and Cheboygan along the way. The North Eastern State Trail runs from Cheboygan to Alpena and is 71 miles long.

For those who like to go a little bit faster, Cheboygan County is home to over 100 miles of ORV trails. Bring your four wheelers, dirt bikes, side by sides, or other off-road vehicles.  Located 15 minutes northeast of Pigeon Bay Campground is the Black Mountain Recreation Area, featuring 60 miles of ORV trails and an additional 15 miles of ORV routes. It also features a 60-acre ORV scramble area.
 
Just to the south of the campground is Indian River which has several restaurants, a grocery store, and canoe, kayak, and tube rentals. The town of Cheboygan is 20 minutes north of the campground and has several restaurants, grocery stores, boat rentals, and more!
